Downtown Disney

Ahh, Disney for adults! From dusk til dawn it seems the kids are calling my name and demanding I take them through the Haunted Mansion just one more time. I hope it doesn’t sound like I’m complaining, because I have to say, I love the Haunted Mansion, I love all the rides and attractions! It’s just..that..sometimes I long for an adult only night on the town. Downtown Disney was built for that exact reason. At least that’s what I tell myself.

  • The Attractions

Pleasure Island 24 Theaters Complex –  I have never been on this but it looks amazing. In here you can watch movies while laying down on love seats. Not your typical movie theater to say the least! Prices aren’t bad either by Disney’s standards at only $6 – $12 per ticket.

Disney Quest Indoor Interactive Theme Park – Like video games? If you answered yes to that question you might find yourself not able to walk out of this place. Five floors of virtual reality fun!

haracters In Flight -Never been in this either, but I hear it’s also amazing. Every time I see this enormous, illuminated hot air balloon decorated with many of our favorite Disney characters, 400 feet in the sky, I have to stop and stare. It’s funny because I always try and take a picture of it with my camera but it never turns out. It’s always a black background with this smear of yellow where the balloon should be. My wife laughs at me and calls me an idiot when the 20th picture looks the same as the first. Whatever. She can’t spoil my good time!

  • Dining Options

Now we’re talking! Oh so many choices, so little time. Whether you want to sit down for a nice sit down meal, or grab a slice of pizza and keep on walking, Downtown Disney has it all. I would list all the places to eat, but it’s a whole lot easier to give you a link so you can check it our for yourself. Click here to find out where your next meal will come from the next time you visit Downtown Disney.

  • What I Like To Do

Basically what we do is depart from Bay Lake around 8pm. It’s usually my wife and I and another couple. We have older kids so child care is no worry for us. I know not everyone has that luxury, so for those people I would encourage you to take advantage of Kid’s Nite Out and have a babysitter come to your room! The rates for this service are as follows:

1 child – $16.00 per hour
2 children – $18.50 per hour
3 children – $21.00 per hour
4 children – 23.50 per hour

Once child care is set we hop on a bus that drops us off at Downtown Disney’s front gate. We hit the first restaurant we see and get beverages. Okay, alcoholic beverages. Hey it’s Disney World, don’t judge me : ) We get our drinks and we just start walking. There is so much to see. The weather is usually picture perfect and the attractions are around every corner. Talk about endless photo opportunities. The front of the Lego store has a ridiculous display in front of it. Snapping a picture of that is a must. There is a massive dragon that sits in the water that runs through Downtown. It really is a sight.

I know this was a quick Disney Vacation Club Review of Downtown Disney, but I assure you there is lots to do and its a ton of fun!
