Magic Kingdom

Becoming a member of the Disney Vacation Club means, for the most part, taking a trip to Disney World every single year. I am aware that people borrow points from next years deposit, and therefore end up skipping a year. Even still, we are talking a lot of Disney vacations. Here’s a run down of the different parks. I mean, if you’re going to bring your family here every year, you want to make sure the parks are worth it! Magic Kingdom The beloved. The place every kid under the age of 12 wants to be, all the time. Magic Kingdom is sectioned off into 6 different areas. Disney Vacation Club Reviews breaks it down.

  • Main St, USA

Loaded with shops and restaurants, you could spend an entire day here. Most people don’t, but you could. As you enter Magic Kingdom, you first enter the Town Square. There you will find guest services and a fire station. Along the same stretch you can enjoy a real haircut (if you wish) at “The Harmony Barber Shop”. What alot of people end up doing is getting “Baby’s First Haircut” here. To ensure you always remember the moment, the barbershop will issue you a certificate! You can catch a parade every single day (get there early, trust me). People line the streets and it is often tough to get a spot in the front row. I prefer the parades that are held near Cinderella’s castle, because, well, this thing is magnificent! Once you do reach the castle, you have reached the end of main street. There are usually firework displays at nighttime that are a real treat. We can actually see them from “Top of the World Lounge” which sits high atop Contemporary’s Bay Lake Tower. You have to belong to the Disney Vacation Club, however, to gain access to this establishment.

  • Adventureland

This is where you will find Magic Kingdom’s arguably best two rides. “Jungle Cruise” and “Pirates of the Caribbean.” You can find some really popular characters roaming around Adventure Island, including, but not limited to Peter Pan, Captain Hook, Aladdin, and Goofy! That’s about all I have to say about Adventure Island. Definitely worth checking out those two rides at the very least.

  • Fantasy Land

Well, enter Fantasyland through Cinderella’s castle. A real tone setter for the park. Most of the rides here cater to the younger folks, in my opinion. Now, that isn’t to say that’s a bad thing. After all, the best way to experience Disney World is through the eyes of the little ones. My 6 and 3 year old love it here. With “Dumbo the Flying Elephant” and “It’s a Small World”, who can blame them? While you’re there, be sure to make your reservation at “Cinderella’s Royal Table”. Have you ever had lunch inside a real castle before? There are other restaurants in the area too. So if you don’t happen to make it into the castle for lunch, you can certainly still eat in Fantasyland.

  • Frontierland

I know I am not in the majority here when I tell you my favorite part of Frontierland is the…. wait for it, smoked turkey legs! I mean these things are out of a Flinstones episode! So delicious. Nobody else in my family has ever bought one with me, but that’s ok. I like what I like. Moving on to the rides. Definitely two crowd pleasers here with “Thunder Mountain” and “Space Mountain”. Be sure to use the fast pass system to avoid any absurd lines. Folks, that brings me to a good point. I know I have mentioned this in other posts, but I will say it again, and again. If at all possible, please please please try and avoid Disney World during peak months. The magic turns into long lines and heat-exhausted kids. Overall, Frontierland is a big ole Western being played out. There will be no mistaking this theme once you’re walking through the Wild Wild West!

  • Libertysquare

Not a ton to do here. That being said, a very popular ride, “The Haunted Mansion” can be found in this area. I don’t think I need to go into great detail about a ride with such a name. I will say that lines are usually long. Use the fast pass system here. Oh, another popular attraction at Liberty Square is that contraption that you stick your head and arms through to make it look like you’ve been hung. You’ll find people lining up here for photos. Lastly, if you are tired of being on your feet, take a boat ride on the Liberty Belle paddle-wheel boat around the American Rivers.

  • Tomorrow land

An attempt to give you a peek into the future. I’m not a huge “sci-fi” guy but I will say there is a ton of futuristic, very popular attractions here. In 1994 Tomorrowland was completely revamped to resemble an outer-space port! Pretty cool stuff. For me, though, I make my way over to Tomorrowland every year and hop aboard “Space Mountain”. Again, using fast pass here should be mandatory. Otherwise you will spend an hour to ride. Sometimes longer. My other two favorites “Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin” (hands down my 3 year old’s favorite ride), and “Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor”. I love this ride for two reasons. The first being that its a great show. The second reason is I get to site down for a bit in the air conditioning!

Mickey’s Toon Town Fair  Closed. Under construction to be integrated into Fantasyland. There is no firm date letting us know when the integration will be complete.

That’s Magic Kingdom in a nutshell. We covered the six areas that make up the park. We talked about some of my favorite rides, but certainly there are many other rides that I did not cover. Tastes vary. My favorites may not be your favorites. Throughout the park there are numerous restaurants and souvenir shops. On a scale of 1 to 10, Magic Kingdom gets a 9. Fun for all ages!
